Private products vs community products

When you add a product to your stash, it is either a community product or a private product. Here's what that means and when to use each.

Community products

Community products are part of the shared MustStash database. They were added by crafters like you, and are maintained by the community and Curators.

  • Anyone can find and add a community product to their stash.
  • They appear in search results across MustStash.
  • Projects linked to community products can be found by other crafters searching for inspiration.

This is how most products should be added. Before creating something new, always search first to see if the product is already in the community database.

Private products

Private products are ones you created yourself that are only visible to you.

  • They don't appear in other crafters' search results.
  • Only you can add them to your stash.
  • Projects using a private product won't show that product to other users.

Private products are useful when:

  • A product isn't in the community database yet and you don't want to wait for review.
  • You want to track something very personal or custom.

Turning a private product into a community product

If you created a private product and think other crafters would benefit from having it in MustStash, you can submit it for community review.

A Curator will look it over. If approved, it becomes a community product available to everyone — and your stash item automatically updates to point to the community version.
